I liked The Elephant's Journey because it was short and easy reading. The story is about an elephant, Solomon, and his keeper, who make a long journey in 1551 from Portugal to Vienna, Austria. The author enjoys poking fun at all the pomp of the imperial journey.The elephant, a gift to an Archduke in Austria, has to make a very difficult journey across the Alps with many escorts.
