With your Keene Public Library card, you can download audiobooks from the NH Downloadable audiobooks Website and listen to them on your PC, MAC, MP3 player, or iPod.

What do I need to get started?

You will need to download a small piece of software onto your home computer called the Overdrive Media Console. Once you have the software installed, open the Overdrive Media Console and choose "Upgrade Windows Media Player" from the Tools menu.

How do I download an audiobook?

Go to the NH Downloadable Audiobooks website. There is a great Guided Tour there that will show you the steps to follow.

How long do the audiobooks check out for?

They check out for 1 week. (This means you have one week to download and transfer them. Once transfered, you can keep them indefinitely.)

Can I return an item early?

Sorry, but no. Due to publisher restrictions, items cannot be returned early.

I checked out a book, but when I go back to download it, it's no longer in my cart.

Items added to your cart will disappear after 60 minutes.

How many books can I check out at one time?

Three

Everything seems to be checked out already. How do I find titles that are available?

If you do an advanced search, you can limit your search to items which are available. Another way is to search the "Always Available" collection. (You'll find the link on the left hand side under COLLECTIONS.)

I received an email saying a book I wanted was now available, but when I go into my account, it's not there.

The item is only held for you for 2 days. Then it moves on to the next person who is waiting.

I put a hold on an item, but I don't want it anymore. Can I cancel my hold?

Yes! Once you have logged in, click on the "My Holds" link. The the "Remove" link next to the title you no longer want.

How many times can I download an item?

You can download an item 3 times.  If you are having trouble after 3 tries, please contact the library and we can reset the title so you get 3 more tries.
