Movies for Film Lovers of All Ages Screened Free @ Your Library

This summer the Keene Public Library offers three separate free film series.

On Fridays at 1 pm, the library offers movies for young children.  This series is called "Friday Family Flicks."  The film schedule includes Muppet Treasure Island on July 9th, Shark Tale on July 16th, Little Mermaid on July 23rd, Jason and the Argonauts on July 30th, Aloha Scooby Doo on August 6th, Surf's Up on August 13th, Water Horse Legends of the Deep on August 20th, and Wayside The Movie on August 27th.  Free popcorn is served and crafts tables are set up in the Youth Room as well.

On Wednesdays at 3 pm, the library shows movies for teens and 'tweens.  This series, "A Movie, a Craft, and a Chat," features Lady in the Water on July 14th, Eragon on July 21st, Jaws on July 28th, Creature from the Black Lagoon on August 4th, Blue Crush on August 11th, Beach Blanket Bingo on August 18th,  Each event includes crafts, and booktalks.  Some afternoons there are games and other activities planned. Some of these movies are rated PG-13.  Details on movies can be found on the library's online monthly calendar of events.

On Wednesday evenings at 7 pm, the library shows movies for adults.  The current movie series features Civil War stories. The series includes: Red Badge of Courage on July 14th, Young Mr. Lincoln on July 21st, Horse Soldiers on July 28th,  Shenandoah on August 4th, Alvarez Kelly on August 11th, Andersonville on August 18th, and Escape from Fort Bravo on August 25th.

Finally, the library and the Keene Senior Center together sponsor a monthly daytime movie for seniors.  This screening is held the first Monday of the month at 1 pm.  On July 12th, the movie is Blind Side.  The September 2nd movie is Invictus.  More information about each showing can be found on our online calendar of events.
