The Keene Public Library is committed to outreach in our community. We have programs available to reach young children, teens, families, and seniors.
A few of our outreach activities include:
Library and book related presentations at your group or facility regarding library services and activities. Let us know what you want and we can taylor our presentation to your need. To arrange for a presentation, call Gail Zachariah at (603)352-0157.
Tours and group visits to the library. Again, library staff can highlight any subject or service during the presentation. To arrange for a tour or group visit, call Gail Zachariah at (603) 352-0157.
Project Outreach to the homebound is a delivery service of all library materials. Please call Susan Hansmeier at (603) 757-1851 if you would like to arrange delivery for yourself or someone that you know.
Materials can also be delivered to licensed child care centers. For information, please visit the Stories to Go webpage or contact Gail Zachariah, the Youth and Community Services Librarian, at (603) 757-1845.
The library offers both Care to Read Early Literacy Trainings and Every Child Ready to Read Workshops both in the library and in the larger community. Please call the library's Youth Department to inquire about setting up a training.
Our Born to Read program distributes information and a new book to parents of new babies born at the Cheshire Medical / Darthmouth Hitchcock Center Keene. Material and books are also available to babies born at other facilities or in the home. Please contact the Youth Department at (603) 757-1845 if you would like a Born to Read packet for a new baby or parent.
The library has developed a special Kindergarten Kickoff Campaign. All families with kindergarten students are encourage to pick up two posters, reading lists, and a parent guide. Contact the Library's Youth Department at (603)-352-0157 for more information.
Each year, the library promotes a number of public relations campaigns such as Library Card Sign Up Month in September, Teen Read Week in October, and Children's Book Week in May. The library participates in the NH Statewide Readers' Choice Awards for Young People.
