The library's Anime and Manga fan club screens new anime titles for possible purchase by the library. Old classics are also shown. Manga will also be discussed and recommended for purchase by the library.
The club does other activities too. We have Japanese theme parties, craftaku, and workshops on manga writing.
The club is for fans ages 13 and up. Generally, anime titles suggested for teens ages 13 and up will be shown. Occasionally, the group will view a title that is suggested for older teens ages 15 or 16 and up.
For more information, call the library's Youth Department at (603) 757-1856 or check our online teen calendar.
Most anime in the Keene Public Library has a subject heading of "Animation cinematography -- Japan." If you do a subject search on Keene-Link, that is the phrase you should type into the search field. Most anime is in the YA area of the library but some titles are available in the Youth Department and in the Adult AV area.
If you are looking for manga, you could try searching with these subjects: "Comic books, strips, etc" and "Graphic novels." You can browse manga titles in the 741.45 sections of the YA area, Youth Department, and Adult Section.
You'll find how-to books and dictionaries of manga and anime in YA 741.5 and YA 791.4.
